John Heartfield has been mentioned to me twice in the last 24 hours. He is a German artist who struggled against the Nazi regime. His collages are expressive and raw in their execution, yet they are well designed. There is a documentary about him somewhere. If you have some information to share about this artist, please comment.

LIVING OUT LOUD - LOVE ME
Hi everyone -
First of all - a shout out to James for starting the blog! It's great to have a place to open up discussion outside of the classroom setting.
Secondly - this is my first time blogging (blogging virgin) - so sorry if my images are huge! :(
And finally... ironically many of my most recent pieces have been about social networking sites. I am really interested in many facets of these sites - the idea of safety when posting ideas (there is an element of safety that is involved - as you don't have to see anyone's reaction to your post. Alternatively, you don't get any physical affirmation either - a smile, nod, etc.); the transience of the sites - how quickly they are updated, morph & will become obsolete.
. I have attached pdfs - let me know what you think!
Click on the images to see the detail.

Is there a "magical place" here in Los Angeles? Where is that magical place? Please share it with us, post your comment. Add a google map location to it. Also, feel free to add a little Photoshop effect to your image if you are posting images.
What makes it special to you and why?

This is an image from the Mixed Media and Collage class at UCLA Extensions. We work in class almost every class meeting, except the first class and the critques. It's great to work in this environment because there always new applications being used with the techniques. We are Art Farmers.
